The Superior Court of California, County of Glenn (Court) continues to monitor the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and balance the need to provide access to justice to our community while also supporting the activities of our public health agencies and the health of the public. From March 20, 2020, to May 18, 2020, the court limited operations and facility access in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Beginning May 19, 2020, and until further notice, operations will resume and facilities will be accessible with appropriate precautions in place. The court may limit operations and access in the future as warranted by the public health situation, in which case this notice will be updated.

Facility Protocol
Do not come to a court facility if you believe you are sick or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other communicable disease. If you do, you will be required to leave. If you need assistance, please contact the Clerk’s Office by phone instead of at 530-934-6446.
- Is the court requiring social distancing?
The court is requiring social distancing. Please maintain 6 feet of separation from other individuals whenever possible when at a court location. Individuals in a courtroom will be asked to sit apart from one another. You may also be asked to wait outside the courtroom, in another room, or outside the facility until your case is heard. Please note that according to the CDC, a “face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.”
- What is the court’s stance on the use of face masks/coverings?
The court is strongly encouraging the use of face masks/coverings when visiting a court location in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The CDC advises that “everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public.”
- Is the clerk’s office open?
The clerk’s office is open, but the number of windows providing services and the number of individuals allowed to enter at a time are being reduced in order to maintain social distancing. Please abide by posted notices when accessing the clerk’s office. You may be asked to stand and/or wait away from a window while being assisted.
Documents may also be filed using the dropbox or by mail.
Court Events and Appearances
- Are court events, like my upcoming hearing, still occurring?
Court hearings are occurring as scheduled. You must appear for your hearing at the noticed date and time unless you receive notice of a new date and time or are advised otherwise by your attorney or the court.
- Can I appear by telephone for my hearing?
Counsel and parties in civil, probate, and family law cases are strongly encouraged to appear by CourtCall. You can schedule a telephonic appearance by calling 888-882-6878 or online at https://courtcall.com/. The cost of telephonic appearances has been reduced during this state of emergency.
If you have questions about appearing by telephone for a hearing in another case type, please contact the court at 530-934-6446.
- I am sick, do I still need to appear for my court hearing?
If you believe you are sick or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other communicable disease, please contact the Court Clerk’s Office at 530-934-6446 for further information. If you have an attorney, contact your attorney before calling the Court.

To make partial payments or ask questions, please contact the court at 530-934-6446.
Self-Help Services
- Is the Court Self-Help Center still open?
The Self-Help Center is open, but the Center’s computers are not available for use at this time. The use of remote services online or by phone is encouraged whenever possible, however. Online services include document assembly programs (go to https://sharpcourts.org/aboutsharp/onlineresources/), email for questions (email asksharp@buttecourt.ca.gov), and online appointments (email sharptechconnect@buttecourt.ca.gov). Jury Service
- Do I still need to report for jury service?
If you are summoned for jury duty, you must appear unless informed by the court otherwise. However, if you are sick, please contact the court at 530-934-6382 to discuss a potential postponement of your service.
- How do I stay informed of changes to my jury service?
If your service has been postponed, you will receive a letter in the mail with your new jury summons.
To determine if you need to appear on your summons date, please call the phone number on your summons and listen to the recorded message.
