MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS SEEK QUALIFIED APPLICANTS TO SERVE ON THE COURT-APPOINTED COUNSEL PANEL FOR LANTERMAN-PETRIS-SHORT CONSERVATORSHIP PROCEEDINGSUpdated Eligibility Requirements and Compensation Rate Apply The Court’s Mental Health Department is seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Court-Appointed Counsel Panel for Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) conservatorship proceedings. Court-appointed counsel must satisfy the requirements of California Rules of Court, rules 7.1101(c) and 7.1103 and Local Court Rules 4.137 and 4.123 through 4.127, updated January 1, 2022. Effective April 1, 2022, the hourly rate for court-appointed counsel in Mental Health proceedings will increase to $150 per hour for services on or after April 1, 2022. Compensation for court-appointed counsel is set in accordance with Standing Order 2022-SJ-006-00, IN RE COURT-APPOINTED COUNSEL IN THE MENTAL HEALTH DIVISION OF THE LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT, issued March 15, 2022.
