In an effort to continue to improve service to the public and promote sustainability by reducing paper in the courthouse, the San Mateo Superior Court is implementing mandatory electronic filing (eFiling) for some case types, Court Executive Officer Neal Taniguchi announced today.

As of January 21, 2020, San Mateo Superior Court requires that all parties, with the exception of self-represented litigants, electronically file into the following case types:

  • Family Law
  • Probate
Permissive eFiling is available for the following case types:
  • Complex Civil
  • Civil
  • Small Claims
  • Criminal
