Due to the State of California’s $54 billion deficit as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Riverside Superior Court experienced a $12 million revenue shortfall in the Fiscal Year 2020/2021. A comment period was provided in the Fall of 2020 notifying the public of potential cost-saving measures that might be necessary. Subsequently, numerous actions were taken to reduce the deficit such as closing courthouses, freezing staff positions, reducing operating costs, and furloughing staff (which resulted in one court closure day per month with only limited emergency services available).

As a result of expense reductions and higher than anticipated revenues, the court will no longer be required to close on May 21, 2021, and June 18, 2021. Please see a revised schedule of court closures:

Please note that the court will still be closed on April 16, 2021, with only limited emergency services available. For more information, please visit the Court’s website at www.riverside.courts.ca.gov.
