In response to the numerous public health orders and continually changing public safety concerns related to COVID-19, Yolo Superior Court has requested and the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court has issued an emergency order closing the Court. This order is effective from March 17, 2020 until April 1, 2020. The Court will remain open with reduced calendars. The public windows will be closed to the public, except for the emergency or the cases listed below. Please check the Court website regularly for updates: https://www.yolo.courts.ca.gov/

As permitted under Government Code section 68115, the court closure will have the effect of being a public holiday as far as statutory or other timelines are concerned.

  • TRAFFIC – DO NOT APPEAR. Your case will be continued and you will receive notice in the mail of a new date.
  • MISDEMEANOR ARRAIGNMENTS – DO NOT APPEAR. Your case will be continued and you will receive notice in the mail of a new date.
  • TIME NOT WAIVED PRELIMINARY HEARINGS – YOU NEED TO APPEAR. Appear in Department 1.
  • ARRAIGNMENTS: In custody, arraignments will be heard in Department 1 at 1:30 p.m.
    • All other criminal matters will be continued and you will receive notice in the
      mail of a new date.
  • CIVIL/FAMILY LAW. If you have a hearing for domestic violence, elder abuse, workplace, gun violence or civil harassment restraining order YOU MUST APPEAR.
    • All other hearings will be continued and you receive notice in the mail of a new date.
  • JUVENILE. Delinquency and dependency detentions will be heard at 1:30 p.m. in Department 2.
  • EMERGENCY REQUESTS: If you need an emergency order for civil, family custody, guardianships, domestic violence, workplace violence, gun violence, civil harassment or elder abuse please review instructions for Ex Parte hearing requests on the Court’s website.
  • JURY SERVICE. If you are scheduled for jury service during this period, your service will be rescheduled. Notice of the rescheduled date will be mailed to you.

PLEASE NOTE: For all hearings, only the parties and/or attorneys will be permitted in the Courthouse.
