Unlawful Detainer (Evictions) and Limited Small Claims Judicial Assignment Change at the Compton Courthouse

Effective Dec. 22, 2025, the Compton Courthouse, located at 200 W. Compton Blvd., Compton, implemented the following change to Department B, an Unlawful Detainer (evictions) and Small Claims courtroom:

  • Commissioner James P. Cooper III is assigned to Department B at the Compton Courthouse. All matters previously assigned to Department B are assigned to Commissioner James P. Cooper for all purposes, unless otherwise notified.

All matters currently calendared shall remain scheduled on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified. Counsel and parties are instructed to indicate the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all documents filed with the clerk to ensure proper departmental assignment, calendaring of hearings and document routing.
