LASC: SUPERIOR COURT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY PILOTS COURTROOM BROADCASTS FEATURE FOR ATTORNEYS AND LITIGANTS AS PART OF LACOURTCONNECT FOR SELECT PROBATE COURTROOMS BEGINNING JUNE 16
Courtroom Broadcasts Feature Will Launch as a Pilot in All Probate Courtrooms at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse and at Governor George Deukmejian (Long Beach) Courthouse Probate Department S09
Beginning June 16, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will pilot a new Courtroom Broadcast feature for attorneys and litigants as part of LACourtConnect (LACC) 3.0, the Court’s remote hearings platform, in all probate courtrooms at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse and Governor George Deukmejian (Long Beach) Courthouse Probate Department S09.
Designed to enhance LACC, the Courtroom Broadcast feature will enable checked-in litigants and attorneys with multiple hearings scheduled on the same day to monitor these hearings from participating courtrooms in a centralized viewing pane without the need to enter the remote hearing. Working in unison with LACC’s existing My Checked-in Hearings feature, which enables users to check in to multiple hearings at the same time and view all checked-in hearings in one place, Courtroom Broadcasts will allow court users to monitor other hearings occurring in a courtroom and join the hearing accordingly when it is about to begin.
Accessing the Courtroom Broadcasts Feature
Litigants and attorneys wishing to appear remotely in Stanley Mosk Courthouse probate courtrooms and Long Beach Courthouse Department S09 may access Courtroom Broadcasts after visiting LACC’s welcome page and selecting probate as their litigation type. They will then be directed to a page for same day check in. This page allows litigants and attorneys to search for their hearing by case number, courtroom calendar, first and last name, or by organization. Checked-in court users can then access the Courtroom Broadcasts feature from either the Check-In Confirmation Page or the My Checked-In Hearings page.
Court users should note that individual courtroom broadcasts are enabled at the discretion of the judicial officer. Additionally, photographing or recording these broadcasts is prohibited by Local Rule 2.17 and California Rules of Court 1.150. LACC is only intended for remote appearances by participants with a role in the case, including litigants, attorneys, and witnesses. Per Court Policy, LACC is not available for observation to the media or members of the public. All non-confidential court proceedings are open for the general public and members of the media to attend in person.
About LACC
The addition of the Courtroom Broadcasts feature aligns with the Court’s broader efforts to improve remote hearings with LACC 3.0, which introduced a new simplified platform across multiple litigation types. Based on the feedback from this pilot program, the Court aims to expand the Courtroom Broadcasts feature to other litigation types in the summer months.
Additional information about LACC 3.0, including an updated reference guide, video tutorial, and a technical specifications document, are available for court users.
LACC promotes convenience and choice with audio and video remote appearance options, eliminating driving, parking, and childcare costs and saving commute time to courthouses. LACC 3.0 is available on Windows PC, macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Android devices that support Microsoft Teams
