LASC: Attorneys and Justice Partners May View and Print Certain Transcripts Through the Attorney and Justice Partner Portals

Court Notice

Attorneys and Justice Partners May View and Print Certain Transcripts Through the Attorney and Justice Partner Portals

Updated Transcript Viewing and Printing Access Apply to Preliminary Hearings and Court-Ordered Copies of Transcripts for Parties

Effective Jan. 12, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County is updating its prior Notice to Attorneys regarding transcript access and printing through the Attorney Portal and the Justice Partner Portal for preliminary hearings and court-ordered copies of transcripts for parties. Specifically, attorneys and justice partners may now view and print transcripts for preliminary hearings and court-ordered copies of transcripts for parties through the Attorney Portal and the Justice Partner Portal, respectively.

In addition, attorneys and justice partners using their respective portals may continue to view public transcripts pursuant to General Order 2025-SJ-002-00.

How Attorneys and Justice Partners May Access Transcripts:

  • Criminal Transcripts may still be accessed for viewing only while using the Court’s public portals or the Attorney and Justice Partner portals. These entries will continue to appear as “Transcript – Reporter.
  • New entries reflected as “Transcript Reporter GC 69954(d)” will be used for preliminary hearings and court-ordered transcripts when the Court pays for copies for the parties. These transcripts may be viewed and printed through the Attorney and Justice Partner portals and do not include transcripts ordered for court use only.
  • Attorneys and justice partners may contact court reporters directly to purchase original transcripts, or copies of transcripts that are not entered, or which may not be printed through the portals. For more information on requesting transcripts, visit this page.

This change regarding transcript printouts from the Attorney Portal and the Justice Partner Portal is made pursuant to California Government Code, section 69954(d), which prohibits the copying of transcripts without payment to the court reporter. Specifically, “Any court, party, or person who has purchased a transcript may, without paying a further fee to the reporter, reproduce a copy or portion thereof as an exhibit pursuant to court order or rule, or for internal use, but shall not otherwise provide or sell a copy or copies to any other party or person.”

As the largest trial court in the nation, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County serves a population of almost 10 million across 36 courthouses, with a jurisdiction covering over 4,000 square miles that includes 88 cities, 140 unincorporated areas, and dozens of law enforcement agencies. The Court is steadfast in its mission to serve our community by providing equal access to justice through the fair, timely, and effective resolution of all cases.
