Family Law Judicial Assignment Changes at the Whittier Courthouse
Judge James Horan Will Be Assigned to Department 123 and Judge Terrence Jones Will Be Assigned to Department 301
Effective April 6, 2026, the Family Law Division will implement the following changes to courtroom operations at the Whittier Courthouse, located at 7339 S. Painter Ave., Whittier:
- Department 123 will open as a Family Law direct calendar courtroom (General Family Law “Home” Court). Judge James Horan will be assigned to Department 123 and will handle all cases that will be randomly assigned and/or reassigned to Judge Horan for all purposes. Impacted litigants with a future hearing date will receive a Notice of Case Reassignment via eService or U.S. mail.
- Judge Terrence Jones will be assigned to Department 301 at Whittier Courthouse. All matters previously assigned to Department 301 will be assigned to Judge Jones for all purposes unless otherwise notified.
All matters currently calendared shall remain scheduled on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified. Counsel and parties are instructed to indicate the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all documents filed with the clerk to ensure proper departmental assignment, calendaring of hearings and document routing.
