LASC: SEARCH WARRANT RETURNS WILL BE ACCESSIBLE THROUGH THE SUPERIOR COURT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY’S PUBLIC COURTHOUSE KIOSKS BEGINNING ON JUNE 11
The Court Is Unveiling a New Digital Tool That Will Make It Easier for Court Users To Access Search Warrant Returns
Beginning on Wednesday, June 11, court users will be able to view non-sealed search warrant returns on the Superior Court of Los Angeles County’s public kiosks at each of the Court’s 36 courthouse locations, streamlining a manual process that had previously required a visit to the Clerk’s Office.
Court users can click on the “Find Search Warrants” link on the Criminal tile to search through non-sealed search warrant returns using the local police department number, search warrant number, or agency name. Court users also have the option of adding the peace officer’s first and last name and a date range to their search criteria. Court users will be able to access search warrant returns that date as far back as 2020.
Search warrant applications and returns are electronically submitted through the Court’s Electronic Search Warrant (eSW) Portal. Once a returned search warrant has been entered electronically into the Court’s system, court users should expect a 24-hour processing time until the search warrant return becomes available to view on the kiosks.
The Court’s effort in creating a new tool to make search warrant returns more accessible to court users across the county demonstrates the Court’s ongoing commitment to efficiency and transparency. Previously, court users would be required to visit the Clerk’s Office and request a search warrant logbook to view manually. Now, court users will be able to more easily access search warrant returns directly from a court kiosk at any court location.
