LASC: SUPERIOR COURT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY TO IMPLEMENT LACOURTCONNECT REMOTE APPEARANCE PLATFORM FOR CRIMINAL, APPELLATE, MENTAL HEALTH AND JUVENILE COURTROOMS
First Phase of LACourtConnect Rollout Begins June 2 in Select Criminal Courtrooms. Future Phases Will Be Announced at a Later Date.
This summer, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will initiate a phased rollout of LACourtConnect (LACC), the Court’s remote courtroom appearance technology, for courtrooms in the Criminal, Appellate, Mental Health, and Juvenile Divisions. Upon the completion of adding these divisions, all remote appearances in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will use the same platform.
Beginning June 2, the first phase of the rollout will include all criminal courtrooms at the following courthouse locations:
- Catalina Courthouse
- Compton Courthouse
- East Los Angeles Courthouse
- Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse (Long Beach)
- Inglewood Courthouse
- Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse
- Pomona Courthouse
- Torrance Courthouse
Before June 2, attorneys and litigants appearing remotely in criminal proceedings in the above-listed courthouses will continue to be provided with a meeting link to a virtual Webex meeting room from the courtroom to access their remote hearing. After June 2, attorneys and litigants appearing remotely for criminal hearings at the above-listed courthouses must visit the LACC welcome page, select Criminal as their litigation type, and find their hearing with either a case number search, calendar search or name search.
LACC is a simplified, modernized remote appearance platform that enables attorneys and litigants to appear for court hearings virtually using Microsoft Teams without needing advanced registration. Key features of LACC include:
- Same-Day Check-In: Participants may check in a few minutes before their hearing.
- Standard Microsoft Teams Features: Provides greater platform stability and ease of use, with a streamlined experience for attorneys and litigants alike across all devices.
- My Checked-in Hearings Feature: Allows users to manage multiple hearings in one location.
- Attorney of Record Feature: Attorney of record with multiple proceedings on the same day also have the option to check into additional same-day proceedings upon check-in.
Upon check-in, attorneys and litigants will use a Microsoft Teams link to join the courtroom’s virtual meeting room. Once a user has joined a meeting, they will be instructed to standby until their matter is called.
Criminal courtrooms not located in the above-listed courthouses, as well as all Appellate, Mental Health, and Juvenile courtrooms, will continue to use the Webex platform until further notice. Information regarding additional LACC implementation phases for the Criminal, Appellate, Mental Health and Juvenile Divisions will be announced at a later date.
