Court Notice

Superior Court of Los Angeles County Updates Guidance on Probate Operations at the Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse

Effective Feb. 2, 2026, the Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse (Antelope Valley Courthouse) has ceased hearing probate matters in-person. To provide continued access for Antelope Valley residents, the courthouse continues to accept both in-person and electronic filings for probate matters. Probate litigants without access to LACourtConnect compatible technology may utilize Department A22 at the Antelope Valley Courthouse to appear remotely in Department AVPR before a judicial officer at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

All Antelope Valley Courthouse probate matters are now assigned to Department AVPR, which has been created as a new department to accept probate filings for court users assigned to the Antelope Valley Courthouse. All matters assigned to Department AVPR will be physically heard by Department 18 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, located at 111 N. Hill Street, Los Angeles, on Thursdays and Fridays, excluding court holidays.

Antelope Valley Courthouse court users have the following options to have their probate matter heard by the Court:

  • Option 1: Appear remotely via LACourtConnect, the Court’s free remote courtroom appearance technology platform. Litigants must register in Antelope Valley Courthouse, Department AVPR.
  • Option 2: Appear in-person at the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Department A22, which features remote appearance technology for court users to appear at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Department 18.
  • Option 3: Appear in-person in Department 18 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

For filing and LACourtConnect purposes, cases will remain calendared in Department AVPR, but all hearings will be heard before Judge Charles Q. Clay III on Thursdays and Fridays in Department 18 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. Department 18 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse will continue to hear probate matters assigned to Department 18 Monday through Wednesday, excluding court holidays.

All matters previously calendared in Department A14 at Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse have been reassigned to Department AVPR. Those cases will remain scheduled on the dates and times previously set, unless otherwise notified. Counsel and parties are instructed to indicate the assigned judicial officer and department on the first page of all documents filed with the clerk to ensure proper departmental assignment, calendaring of hearings and document routing.
