LASC: Online Dispute Resolution Program Pausing on Jan. 1

Court Notice

Online Dispute Resolution Program Pausing on Jan. 1

Court to Discontinue Existing ODR Program After Dec. 31, 2025, Deadline

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will discontinue its current Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) program for Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer matters. ODR will remain available for parties to reach an out-of-court settlement in these case types only through Dec. 31, 2025.

Settlement agreements, stipulated judgments for Unlawful Detainer cases, and requests for dismissal may be submitted through ODR until the system’s final day of operation on Dec. 31. After that date, online submissions will no longer be available.

TurboCourt, the company that supports the Court’s ODR program platform, offers step-by-step instructions during the negotiation process; however, access to the negotiation platform will end Dec. 31. ODR communications in TurboCourt are confidential and cannot be viewed by judges or court staff.

Important Information for Litigants Affected by the Program’s Discontinuation

Parties who recently received ODR notification may participate through Dec. 31. After that date, the program will no longer be available. Court users must attend their scheduled hearing unless they have a court-approved settlement agreement at least two court days before their hearing or before Dec. 31, whichever comes first.

Parties already engaged in ODR negotiations may continue exchanging offers through Dec. 31. If parties do not settle by the deadline, parties must attend their scheduled hearing. Negotiations will not continue in TurboCourt after the program ends.

Parties who submitted a settlement agreement before the deadline will have their agreement processed by the Court. Parties will be notified if their hearing is cancelled or if they must still appear. If parties do not receive confirmation before their hearing date, they are instructed to contact the Clerk’s Office for guidance.

If the ODR deadline passes before the parties submit an agreement, or if the agreement is not fully processed, the parties must attend their scheduled hearing.

What Happens While ODR is Paused

Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the Court encourages all negotiations to continue outside of the ODR platform. Parties must attend their scheduled hearing unless a court-approved settlement is on file. Local form LASC SMLC 017 – Settlement Agreement remains available for litigants who reach a settlement outside of ODR and wish to submit it to the Court.

Parties who miss the ODR cutoff date and need information about their hearing should contact the Clerk’s Office at the courthouse where their case is filed.

Mediation Services Available

Mediation services remain available through county-funded agencies for Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer cases. For more information, visit the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs’ mediation program website.
