OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA: Superior Court of Alameda County announces the launch of new civil case management and electronic filing systems, beginning October 12, 2021.
The Superior Court of Alameda County (Court) announced today that on October 12, 2021, it will launch Journal Technologies’ eCourt case management system (CMS). This new CMS will replace the Court’s current Domain CMS for all limited and unlimited Civil cases, including unlawful detainers, small claims, civil harassment restraining orders, and civil appeals. Probate, Family, Adoption, and Mental Health cases will continue to be accessed through Domain until October 2022, when they also will transition to eCourt.
As a modern CMS, eCourt has a user-friendly interface and level of functionality that far exceed those of Domain, which the Court developed in-house over twenty years ago. The Court’s new eCourt system will include numerous improvements to further facilitate court access. With the October 12 Go Live, eCourt will:
- Replace Domain’s Fax Filing with electronic filing (e-filing) for Civil case types;
- Enable electronic court reservations; and
- Launch a user-friendly Public Portal in place of DomainWeb to facilitate case and record access for Civil cases.
For more information, the Court has prepared the following materials and resources to explain some of the differences and functionality of the new eCourt system, and also shares information as to how to prepare for e-filing, which will be mandatory for most users starting in January 2022:
Please note, with the launch of eCourt and e-filing, after October 8, 2021, Fax Filing will no longer be available in Civil matters, although it will still be available for Probate cases at a new number, (510) 267-5785. In addition, in order to prepare for the Court’s October 12, eCourt go live, tentative rulings in Civil cases will not be available on DomainWeb from October 4 through 11, 2021, and DomainWeb will be unavailable from the close of business on September 20, 2021
Thursday, October 7, until the morning of October 12. Users will be able to access their rulings in the new Public Portal starting on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
The Court is excited to be able to offer these added services through eCourt’s user-friendly functionality, which will greatly enhance the public’s access to Court resources.
