Superior Court of Los Angeles County to Launch LACourtConnect Pilot Program for Remote Appearances in Juvenile Dependency Courtrooms
Pilot to Begin May 4 in Select Courtrooms, Advancing Courtwide Efforts to Modernize Remote Access
Beginning May 4, 2026, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County will pilot LACourtConnect (LACC) for remote appearances in Juvenile Dependency courtrooms, advancing efforts to streamline and modernize access to court proceedings. This pilot builds on the successful transition of LACC to Juvenile Justice courtrooms in September 2025, as well as a prior transition for Juvenile Dependency in July 2025.
Remote appearances for Juvenile Dependency hearings in Department 413 and Department 416 at Edmund D. Edelman’s Children’s Court will be conducted through LACourtConnect. For hearings scheduled on or after May 4, 2026, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the Court will include a link to the LACourtConnect same-day check-in page on all notices issued for these departments.
Using LACourtConnect (LACC)
LACC is a free, simplified, and modernized platform that allows court users to appear remotely through Microsoft Teams, with advanced registration required. To appear remotely, users must visit the LACC home page, select “Juvenile Dependency” as their litigation type, and search for their hearing by case number or calendar.
Juvenile Dependency litigants and attorneys can access a link for their hearing one of two ways:
- Through the Court’s notice of hearing, issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services in advance of the hearing, will direct participants to the LACourtConnect same-day check-in page. Participants must complete the check-in process to receive the Microsoft Teams link for their hearing.
- Through the “Juvenile Dependency” tile on the Court’s LACourtConnect welcome page which will direct participants to the same-day check-in page.
Additional Safeguards: To protect the confidential nature of Juvenile Dependency proceedings, additional safeguards are built into the LACourtConnect process. Case titles will display only party initials, and identifying information for parents, relatives and guardians is redacted prior to check-in.
Parents, relatives and guardians are required to provide their name and role during the check-in process. Key features of LACC include same-day check-in, allowing participants to join shortly before their scheduled hearing, and a centralized “My Checked-in Hearings” view to manage multiple hearings. Attorneys with multiple matters may check in to all hearings using a single login.
Once checked in, participants will receive a Microsoft Teams link to join the courtroom’s virtual session and will remain in a virtual lobby until their matter is called.
Benefits of Remote Access
LACC provides flexible audio and video appearance options, helping court users save time and reduce costs associated with commuting, parking, and childcare. The platform is compatible with supported Windows PC, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android devices. Most users may join through a web browser without downloading additional software.
